Casual Dining
Open mornings over the June long weekend
If the COFFEE sign is out, passers by are welcome to drop in for a coffee and fresh bread or cake without booking at the moment.
We are open most weekends and occasional other days, but will be closed for most of July and early August except for existing bookings.
For a more formal morning tea or a light lunch at the Farmhouse please book ahead (online through our website, or by phone or text) so we can be prepared. A limited set menu is offered depending on available produce and the season.
EFTPOS available or cash accepted
Cooking Classes
Cookery classes are available at times at the Farmhouse for small groups of 4 to 8 people, for a range of activities, including sourdough bread making, preserving, cheesemaking, and fresh pasta making. Organise a date with a group of friends, or join others for an advertised class. Or book a day-long country cooking experience and long lunch with a group of friends. Current classes are fully booked but new dates for spring this year will be available soon.
You can book online through our website or phone Jan to discuss available dates.
Functions & Events - bookings available for spring & summer 2026
We are currently nearly fully booked for June and will only be open part time in July and early August, taking some time out for garden and farm maintenance works. Online bookings can be made for the remainder of the year for group functions for a special event, lunch, or dinner. Our seasonal set menus can be tailored to suit your requirements. Dining options include inside spaces (either in the kitchen or new formal dining room) for small formal dinners (suits 6 to10 people), or verandah and garden for larger groups and more casual meals, depending on the weather. We can provide the venue and catering for small weddings or events. There are some great accommodation options available at nearby Lake Keepit Reflections State Park, including the new deluxe Wilderluxe glamping experience.
Winter at the Farmhouse.
Winter here in North West NSW has begun with some welcome steady rain and showers, which have greened up the garden and paddocks.
We are only open part time over winter, to give us time for some farm and garden maintenance while the weather isn’t so great for relaxing on the verandah. We are still open some weekends for small groups who often prefer to be seated inside by the fire. We will be closed for most of July and early August, apart from existing bookings.
Our home garden is rather wild, always needing attention. Our vegie garden and most fruit trees are across the road from the farmhouse but anyone interested is welcome to have a guided tour there. We have been working on it through autumn, trying to keep on top of weeds, and replanting vegetables. Peas and broad beans are up and seem more hardy than brassicas which are frequently eaten off by pests, frustratingly.
We are finding our place best suits small groups of friends, work colleagues or family who appreciate a simple casual country style experience and an old time place to meet and relax, whilst enjoying some good food cooked from scratch with fresh ingredients.
We generally offer a seasonal set menu for lunch and dinner where everyone has the same meal, apart from special dietary requirements, which can be accommodated with prior notice. The menu can be left as a surprise for the day or discussed in advance if preferred. We are no longer doing cooked breakfasts - finding it hard to fit prep and cooking a full breakfast menu into busy enough days.
We have a new booking system available through our website. We ask that you use it, if possible, to make bookings. It should make it easier to find available dates for the different things we offer, from cooking classes to morning tea, lunch or dinner .You will also get confirmation of your booking and a reminder. For any queries feel free to call instead or as well.
For those interested in cooking classes, you are welcome to gather a small group of friends (usually six to eight people) for an exclusive booking and suggest a date, or join an advertised class. Our current planned classes are fully booked at the moment. Dates for spring classes will be out soon.

Eliza - June 2023
This was a really special afternoon, and not just because we spent it eating and drinking wine in the sun with the fam, but because the very existence of this place, especially so close to home, opens up a world of possibilities. Carroll Gap Farmhouse is rooted in tradition, but paves the way for a more diverse and interesting dining scene that we really don't see a lot of in Australia.

Wonderful hosts and a beautiful property :) We had an amazing time enjoying delicious food and a taste of farm life at Carroll gap and we will definitely be passing through again! Thanks to Jan our bellies were always full with fresh bread, cheese and other delights, while Bob gave us some good insights into rural living and farming. We'll be seeing you again 😊

Absolutely charming setting in a colonial era ex-schoolhouse, surrounded by beautiful trees and gardens. Everything is homemade in traditional style and the whole house feels like it has been transported instantly from the Victorian era. Jan is a delightful host and her food is exceptional.
